We were looking for affordable and well-constructed binoculars for under $100. Meade had really good reviews for the Rainforest Pro series so we decided to test out the Wilderness 10×42 version in hopes the same level of quality could be found in their cheaper product lines. The product came shipped in a fully protected box within a few days of ordering. The quality of the accessories that came stock are medium but we did purchase the binoculars and not the extras so its better than nothing. We tested them over a weekend hike and the binoculars feel like a high-quality product for the purchased price point. The hard rubber body has a nice touch which doesn’t feel like cheap plastic. It has a stock color of dark forest green otherwise I would have bought them in black. Meade states the binoculars are waterproof so we’ll try them in the rain but probably won’t dunk them in water or a river to test out the feature. The shape and size fit in my hands nicely and there is substantial weight to them. The website site says these are about 1.3lbs so I’m not sure how long I would hang them around my neck. I carried them for an hour or so and it wasn’t too bad. The case has a belt loop so hanging it off a day pack will probably be how I attach it in the future for longer hikes. The twistable eyecups are pretty smooth and make it easier for me to adjust the focus on the lens without having to take off my glasses. This doesn’t sound like a big deal but it makes for less hassle when hiking. The binoculars are fitted with a base screw for tripods which is a nice feature but not really sure when I would use it. I’m sure more serious bird or wildlife watchers would use it a lot. We could look out pretty far with these binoculars and I guess because it has a 42mm lens it let in a lot more brightness than smaller lenses. This is our first pair of binoculars so we don’t have much to compare it too but it did provide the magnification we were looking for. Southern California has some really great hiking trails and you can see quite a bit of wildlife with these. The nice thing is that you can get a wide view and then focus in on detail and get pretty clear results. It definitely makes our hikes more enjoyable to stop and see whats around us. Overall, we like the binoculars and will probably purchase these again as a gift. For the quality and at the price it’s a great deal. Read more

Bright, crisp, clear view and well equipped. Not a high dollar band name, but I’d put up the clarity against most any. Can’t tell the difference between these and the far more expensive Pentax glasses I’ve got….wish I had those hundreds of dollars BACK. Read more

These binoculars are just OK. Not the best optics and focus can be very difficult. I expected more for the price paid. That said, have not found any others much better. Like someone once said, better than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick. These are indeed better than a poke in the eye. Read more

So far so good. I can clearly read the license plate of a car about a 100 yards away. They have some weight to them. They feel like they could withstand a couple of drops. The rubberized coating feels nice. Nothing feels cheap about these binos so far. Will update later if I find out they leak or otherwise. Thanks Meade! Read more

I have had these for a few years. I use them to check arrows and bullets on targets and for hunting. I live in midwest so I don’t need long range binos but they have worked for an africa hunting trip and a elk trip, but mostly bear and whitetails. Never a need for a better pair and for the price its great. Read more
